Star Wars: The Force Awakens was such a highly anticipated film, which alone teaser racked up 88 million views within the first 24 hours on the Internet. This is an amazing number for sure, but even more surprising at the beginning of this year, a teaser trailer for the adaptation of the live-action Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson as Belle, managed to amass a whopping 91.8 million visits during the same time period. Both are from Disney and are suitable for families and both have huge fanbases.
However, neither the strength nor beast can be closer to what the recently released trailer for Fifty Shades Darker just did it last Tuesday. Trailer of Fifty Shades of Grey sequel, starring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, leveled more than 112 million views in just 24 hours. This number becomes more impressive, given the nature of the adult person presented in the film (although it seems far tamer than the books).
Universal Pictures sent a press release breaking down the actual numbers: People in the United States saw the teaser for the Fifty Shades Darker over 39 million times. In addition, the share of international markets for almost 75 million of those views with users of Facebook, in particular, will contribute about 2.5 million visits.
Fifty Shades Darker movie will released in theaters on February 10, 2017; Fifty Shades Freed will debut on February 9, 2018.
